Bulgogi Recipe

You can have Bulgogi at home in a flash with our Bulgogi Marinade Blend  You just need to add some simple pantry staples like soya sauce to get great bulgogi. 

Ingredients

  • 2T Bulgogi Marinade Blend or Korean BBQ Blend From Lex’s Pantry
  • 2lb BeefSirloin, rib eye or brisket (but it will work with any inexpensive roast too)
  • ½ c Soya Sauce 
  • 2T Sesame Oil
  • if using Korean BBQ Blend
    • 1-2T brown sugar / palm sugar/sugar alternative to taste
  • Optional
    • 2 Green onions, thinly sliced
    • 1 Red pepper, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef into thin slices
  2. Combine Bulgogi Marinade Blend with soya sauce and sesame oil, and mix thoroughly (If using Korean BBQ Blend, add sugar at this stage to taste)
  3. Add spice mixture to the beef and mix evenly to coat all the meat.
  4. Cover and marinate from 1 hour to overnight in the refrigerator. 
  5. Sear your beef slices on your barbecue over high heat or stir-fry in a wok over high heat for a more saucy bulgogi. (Which is our favourite method)
  6. Serve over rice with salad and a selection of your favourite kimchi and side dishes.

 

Alternatives Ways to Cook your Bulgogi

Traditionally Bulgogi is cooked on a barbecue or tabletop grill, so these are great options, but your cast iron pan on high for quick sear will produce a great bulgogi as well. 

Left over bulgogi?

We've used it as pizza topping, sandwich meat and in rice paper wraps. So very good. 

Other uses for our Bulgogi Marinade Blend Recipe

Mix things up and turn this into a Bulgogi Burger by using our marinade mix and a splash of soy sauce with your ground beef! Serve with kimchi or your favourite burger toppings. Yum!

This Bulgogi Marinade Blend also works well with chicken or turkey as well.  

Or just mix up the marinade and brush it on a roasting chicken, drizzle on a steak or brush it on your favourite vegetables on the grill. 

Don't want the meat? No problem!

Skip the beef and use any of your favourite plant-based meat alternatives. Or just skip straight to using Bulgogi Marinade Blend to season your tofu, seitan and meaty mushrooms. The flavour is there for the using!
