Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

Is there anything that tastes MORE like the sweetness of summer than Strawberry Shortcake? I don't think so. 

These are our family recipe that Lex has been enjoying for her entire life, and her family for generations. 

1 package gets you 8 large shortcakes, 16 small, and over 90 tiny sample-sized shortcakes (no one makes them that size but Lex, but those are the ones in the photo with the package so you know.) 


  • 1 package Shortcake Mix (375g)
  • ½ c of butter or shortening - cold
  • 1 c of milk
  • 1 Egg


  • Preheat oven to 425°
  • Put mix into a large mixing bowl.
  • Grate butter/shortening into the bowl & stir.
  • Add egg and milk
  • Mix gently until everything is combined to a smooth dough.
  • Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.(16 small or 8 large)
  • OPTIONAL - sprinkle top with sugar
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool.

Serve split open, filled with strawberries and whip cream or ice cream, or both!

Shortcake is also fantastic with any kind of berry or fruit!
